"Reborn" Font - integrate traditionality into modernity

In the evershifting tides of time, every individual and object appear entangled in the eternal struggle between memory and oblivion. It seems a natural decree of society that relics are cast aside, yet in today's trendy retro realm, who can fully deny their significance?
The allure of antiquity lies within its aged charisma, a unique allure cultivated through the passage of time. It not only fosters our affection and familiarity with our surroundings but also breathes vitality into the urban landscape. Culture serves as the nourishing soil that enriches an entire metropolis, and it's precisely these diverse elements that contribute to the profound essence of a city's true civilization.
It is not only the memories of Hong Kong people, but also the important role that gives the city its personality and value. Hand-carved sparrows, theatre tents, dim sum carts... How many of these once-familiar things can you count? And how many of them have blurred in your mind? Conservation is important, but it is not enough to simply preserve these cultures, which are bound to be lost one day. It is precisely because they do not want to be lost that some of Hong Kong's declining traditional industries are trying to use old things as their base, retaining their original foundations while injecting new elements into them, so that they can continue to exist, both in body and soul.
In that case, should Hong Kong's writing be passed on? If no one continues to make words, will it become the next target of elimination in society?
Born in a complex and ever-changing era, we have to face different variables every day, and some precious and beautiful things around us are disappearing one by one. We seem to have become numb to this so-called normality and have even begun to accept it silently. Some people say that all good things in the world have an expiry date, but we are not willing to lose them, and we hope that we can bring back the soul of Hong Kong by adding some of our unique humanistic features through our font design.

The wisdom of Wing Chun is to be able to be strong and soft, complementing each other and getting the best out of each other; the sharpness of the razor at the Shanghai barber's shop is a sign of self-affirmation; the versatility and might of the lion dance is a sign of grandeur; and the fineness of the hand-sculpted sparrow demonstrates the master's dedication to the industry and his passion for it. Although these traditional industries are on the verge of elimination, they still hold fast to their positions and maintain their professionalism. If the Reborn Font can incorporate their elements and combine Song and Hei, I believe this will be a set of traditional Chinese characters that can continue the soul of Hong Kong.
In terms of design, Reborn Font is powerful and delicate, striving to strike a balance between artistry and readability. Whether it is used as a copy headline, signage design, product packaging or even posting notices, Reborn Font can fully demonstrate its unique character, which not only exerts tension on the content of the text, but also breaks the impression of traditional fonts as being dull and boring. Especially in the information-rich modern city, an eye-catching and unique headline font is needed to retain people's attention and keep them interested in reading the content.
In addition to innovating in terms of trends, Reborn Font also hopes to pass on cultural heritage through the combination of Song and Black styles. The history of Song Style (Ming Style) can be traced back to the ancient times of movable-type printing. With its bold vertical strokes and iconic triangular decorations to facilitate engraving, Song Style is definitely a representative of traditional aesthetics. On the other hand, bold is a sans-serif typeface derived from the influence of Western fonts, which is highly malleable and contemporary because of its consistency in thickness, simplicity and clarity of strokes.
Reborn Font retains the decorative head and tail of Song Font, but adds the hardness of Black Font and unifies the thickness of the horizontal and vertical strokes, thus achieving the fusion of Song and Black, the new and the old. This design not only makes the font more unique and outstanding, but also allows it to be used in a wide range of media and interfaces, responding to the needs of the times. In this way, Reborn Font is expected to meet the objective of "adding new elements to turn traditional aesthetics into trends", and pass on the inherent humanistic spirit to the next generation.
